Bernie Wrightson's Frankenstein

For those of you who actually read this (leave a comment if you'd like, i like feedback, discussions and i like knowing that people actually see and read this), it's propably clear that I am currently doing something that has something to do with Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

Before i read the book, before i started sketching and drawing, i came across an illustrated frankenstein book. I flipped through it whilst trying not to look too much at the illustrations, because i didnt want to get pushed in a (copying) direction.

Later in my process, i decided to check that book out. Just to see the moments the illustrator decided to use, and how he did it. I got blown away. No shit.
The drawings are so good, so detailed, made with so much attention and craftsmanship, you can only look at them with awe. I know i did.

My first reaction was "Wow!", on account of the awesomeness. My second reaction was "Fuck! Fuck you Bernie!", on account of how much my stuff sucks in comparison to his. Now, i can only say that it has (fuck me, this is going to sound too fucking cheesy) inspired me to try and work harder (here i am, not working, but typing this thing noone will ever read, oh irony). Thanks for blowing me away Bernie, sorry bout the fuck you part.

Bernie Wrightson works in the comic industry as well, but i must confess that i am not too familiar with his other work, will check it out sometime!

I'll add some of the illustrations Bernie Wrightson made, so you can see for yourself. I have to say that these internetphotos are rarely in such a good "condition" that it actually does the work justice. I have to confess that i do not yet own a copy of the book (will definatelty buy it in the future tho'!). If you really want to have a good look at the images and, like me, dont have the spare money to buy the book at the moment, I could suggest searching the internet for a certain file (.cbr) containing all 47 images, but that would be illegal, wouldnt it?
Needless to say that i didnt search for it, found it, downloaded it and watched it with the utmost appreciation, because its illegal.
